This story begins with a girl named Margo. We all have a bit of her within us - a drive to feel worthy of what our loved ones have given us.

She's not afraid to work hard despite her youth, and decides to spend her school nights scrubbing tables and washing dishes at a local restaurant to contribute her paychecks towards her mother, Grace, who works late shifts at the local grocery store.

At work, Margo meets Matt, who portrays the deceptively charming, but insecure archetype of men that utilize their power in order to manipulate and perpetuate a cycle of abuse. Margo must navigate between speaking up about her struggle or saving face in front of her mother.

Grace faces deeply conflicting emotions about her daughter's employment. Observing Margo's relentless dedication, Grace recognizes a reflection of her younger self, which evokes a complex blend of pride, and yet also, hurt. Witnessing her daughter's relentless toil to forge a brighter future - the one that she felt obligated to provide - intensifies Grace's internal struggle as we follow the pair along their path to understanding each other.

At the heart of this narrative lies a poignant exploration: the divergent perceptions of sacrifice between mothers and daughters. This intrinsic misunderstanding, fueled by differing motivations and sentiments, threatens to strain and fracture their bond.

The script for Margo received Celebrity Congratulations and reached 2nd on the list of finalists at (University of Southern California) USC's 480 Thesis Competition.

Help fund this short film by making a contribution to Kickstarter - we need to raise at least $8,500 or 6,750 GBP to enable us to film as early as April 2024. If we surmount this total then we can support the crew too.
